To serve major national strategic needs, China South Industries Group Corporation established a secondary unit in Hangzhou—the China South Industries Group Intelligent Innovation Research Institute. On January 11, 2022, it registered its corporate entity, Hangzhou Zhiyuan Research Institute Co., Ltd., with a registered capital of 2.6 billion RMB. Concurrently, the Zhiyuan National Key Laboratory was established under the institute's framework. Zhiyuan Research Institute represents a core force in China's strategic science and technology landscape. It is a pioneer in the development of platoon-level equipment systems, the lead entity for intelligent equipment advancement within China South Industries Group, and serves as the Group’s strategic think tank and flagship institution in the field of military intelligence. The institute remains focused on the frontiers of intelligent technology, systematically advancing cutting-edge research in areas such as complex system integration, enhanced perception, cognitive augmentation, system-of-systems innovation, new-domain and new-concept equipment, and swarm intelligence. It is committed to becoming a globally leading source of innovation in intelligent equipment and aims to build a “high-level, high-caliber research institute” alongside a “high-tech, high-quality industrial group.”
